How to Maintain your Motorcycle

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There are a lot of things to do before you ride. Whether it’s the first ride of the season or you’re out riding every week, you should always go through pre-ride checklist before you go on the highway.

Here are the things you should do to make your ride safe and enjoyable.

Check Engine Oil Engine oil should be changed every 3700 miles or so. Change
Check Oil Filter Replace Oil Filter every two oil changes. Change
Check Coolant Whenever engine easily overheats. Examine
Check Transmission/Final Drive Oil It depends on your motorcycle. Check your manual for further information about this. Change
Check Spark Plugs Replace every 24 months or 30,000 miles Examine/Change
Check Valves Replace every 6000 miles or whenever you hear tapping sounds in the valves. Examine/Adjust if necessary
Check Carburetor If your engine hiccups when you open the throttle. Synchronize as needed
Check Idle Speed Take a look at your owner’s manual to see the ideal idle speed, then match it to your bike. Examine/Adjust as required
Check Fuel Lines Notice if your motorcycle is leaking fuel. Examine; change chafed lines, tighten clamps
Check Fuel Filter The frequency of changing the filter depends on the capacity of the filter.. Generally, changed it if it’s plugged. Examine/Change if necessary
Check Air Filter Clean when it’s having a yellowish color, replace if it starts to flake off during cleaning. Examine/Clean or change if necessary
Check Throttle/Throttle Cables Examine routinely. Examine and lubricate, check operation, adjust free play
Check Choke/Fast Idle Control If engine is still cold after choking. Check Operation. Lubricate and adjust linkage as necessary
Check Fork Seals Whenever you notice leaking. Check for leaks or damages
Check Rear Shocks If bouncing is noticeable. Check for leaks, worn bushings.
Check Drive Chain If it’s gunky and greasy. Check, lubricate and adjust
Check Drive Belt Severe squeaking while underway or edgewear on the belt may indicate misalignment of the pulleys. Check drive belt. Inspect, Check tension
Check Drive Shaft Check the manual every how often you should change. Change oil
Check Brake Fluid Once every two years or 20,000 to 25,000 miles. Check level; if contaminated, change fluid.
Check Brake Pads Change every time you change brake fluid. Check/Change
Check Brake Calipers Many caliper failures result in brake-pull complaints because the caliper piston fails to retract. Wrench-check mounting hardware, check for leaks/chafed hoses or turn dust boots. Make sure all pistons are free.
Check Brake Rotors If your motor begins pulsating or wobbling, or your brakes begin squealing, screeching or squeaking. Wrench-check mounting hardware, look for scoring or other damage.
Check Brake Master Cylinders A  faulty  master  cylinder  usually  leaks  externally  out the  rear  piston  or  leaks  internally.  You  are  able  to detect   external   brake   fluid   leaks   by   checking   the master  cylinder  boot  for  fluid  or  dampness  on  the firewall. Check for leaks.
Check Wheels Inspect regularly. Check and adjust spokes. Check wheel bearings for play. Check wheel seals for leakage. Check wheel alignment.
Check Tire Condition and Pressure Inspect regularly. Check and adjust.
Check Engine and Frame Bolts Check manual. Check
Check Lights Inspect regularly. Change if lights are broken.
Check Battery and charging system Change every 2 years. Top off battery, check cable terminals, check charge rate.
