Stop germs from taking over your furniture

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you live in a home with a large, tight family, there’s no denying that your favorite room in the house is the sala or the living room.

You may love spending time snuggling on your sofa set, watching tv, sleeping, or just savoring wonderful meals with your family.

But here’s a question. What do you share in common?

A dirty piece of Furniture.

Little do we know, our furniture is one of the most overlooked and probably the dirtiest piece in the household. They are known to harbor countless numbers of germs, allergens, and other disease-inviting contaminants.

And, the only way to prevent the spread of disease is by thorough routine disinfection.

Here are a few techniques that you can apply at home to keep your furniture clean and to stop germs from taking over your comfy space.

Vacuum.

If you have access to a vacuum at home, let it be a golden rule that before proceeding to the disinfection process, you must always take extra efforts to clean and decontaminate your furniture. This is always the initial phase. A good vacuuming can help eliminate fine soil particles, dust, and microbial filaments that can sift downward into its layers.

Spray on fabric-safe disinfectants.

Upholstered and fabric-covered furniture is the easiest to disinfect. You can simply spray on disinfectants to rid them off of mold, mildew, bacteria, and viruses. Lysol (Fabric-Safe Disinfectant)  is a good choice because it is safe for fabrics.

Wipe up wood.

Wooden surfaces are porous and are often prone to streaking and damages in the finish composition. So, we have to be extra careful when disinfecting wood. There are some sprays that leave stains on them. Clorox is the best choice because it’s safer to use on wooden furniture. But it should be diluted and never used in full strength.

Use lemon juice as a natural disinfectant.

Nature has its way of producing natural disinfectants. Lemon is one of them. If you’re looking for a non-toxic alternative that you can use for cleaning plastic tables, chairs, cribs, and any child-prone surface, using a lemon solution will do.

Simply mix equal parts of white vinegar, and water then you can add 15 drops of lemon essential oil. You can store this concoction on a spray bottle, set it aside to settle – then voila, you’ve got yourself an eco-friendly/home-made disinfectant.

Go for mild disinfectant soaps for furniture with an oil finish

You can use soft, lint-free cloths if you’re planning to clean furniture with an oil finish This will minimize the chances of streaking. Anyway, you can always improvise at home and use old shirts. Just make sure the buttons, seams, and zippers are removed so they don’t damage the furniture

Use a sudsy disinfectant soap and water solution as your cleaning agent. Wipe your furniture dry after exposing it to the solution.

Ask for professional help

Believe it or not, there are cleaning professionals out there who you can hire to clean your beddings, sofa, and mattresses. Most of them use state-of-the-art cleaning technology to rid your furniture from pathogens which may cause disease to you and your family. You can always browse through the internet for available services within your location.

There you have it. We hope you learned a lot from this article. You can always share this with your loved ones to help them maintain their furniture too. Remember, no germs should be allowed to take over your furniture.
