3 Smart Tips for Smartphone Shoppers

by | Aug 7, 2020 | News

Smartphones are a common sight nowadays. Young and old rush to buy whenever a new model hits the market because everybody wants to have the latest device. A new one comes out every quarter, with better features and specs. With so many models in the market nowadays, how do you pick the one that’s right for you? Some pick based on brand, others price, and some even just for looks! It’s a crazy smartphone-filled world we live in, and they are definitely here to stay. That’s why it’s time to get smart with your smartphone shopping.

Finding the right phone can be challenging, but a little knowledge goes a long way. Here are three things to look at when planning your next smartphone purchase:

1. BATTERY CAPACITY – BIGGER IS BETTER

It’s not a surprise that Asus’ Max series of phones, which featured massive battery capacity, was a big hit among shoppers. When you’re out and about on the town, the last thing you want is your phone running out of battery. Sure we have power banks, but it would just be easier without it.

Most recent phones that have released have come with a standard battery size of 3000mAh (milliamp hours) and above. You’ll want a device that packs a beast of a battery to get you through the day without so much as going for a charge. Always take a look at battery capacity and pair it to your usage.

2. MORE CAMERAS, MORE FUN

It seems like phone manufacturers are trying to shove as many cameras as they can onto their phones nowadays (we’re looking at you Huawei). It may seem like a gimmick, but they do indeed work to provide great photos. These results can be such as having better  zoom capabilities, or capturing and providing more details.

At this point, it’s no longer a gimmick and is really about turning phones into photography powerhouses. Different manufacturers and brands, however, have different ways of how they tune their cameras. Needless to say though, if you’re into photography, a phone with lots of cameras is another guideline.

3. GO BIG WITH RAM, OR GO HOME

Modern day processors are pretty powerful these days – we’re seeing octa-core processors as a standard for phones. What does need to be focused though, is RAM. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. The bigger it is the faster your phone will be and less likely to freeze when you’ve got a lot of apps open. The general rule of it is that the bigger the better. If you’re playing mobile games, doing work and anything else, more RAM is what you’re looking for. The standard amount of RAM for phones in 2019 is 4GB, so set that as your baseline when you’re looking at newer models.

The smartphone market has a lot brands now, all offering numerous models to shoppers. With these three tips, you should be able to look past just the brand name and be smarter with your purchase.
